Mermaid.
Today was wet. And I was not in the mood... Then I got this message from my sister at 11pm:
S: OI, where is your drawing?
M: Not done yet. Not started yet. Feeling devoid of inspiration. Will throw something together though...
S: Yeah, I saw it was around 10 and thought 'crap, I need to do SOMETHING'. So I drew a Falmer that scares the sh*t out of me. Doesn't need to be much, just something. Happy coffee cup? :)
M: Had to google to see wtf it was... Might draw one of my old favourites...
Literally 15 minutes later...
M: Ok done. It took me five minutes for the main bit, then I needed to stop to figure out what the rest should be. lol
So all I really needed was a nudge.
Today I am grateful for my sister, who is drawing with me every day, and keeping me on track on my off days. I love you S, this one is for you!
Aggghhh! I so love your blog and pictures. I REALLY must pull out my sketch book. I might have to do a sketchy "grateful" post soon me thinks.
ReplyDeleteShe is lovely!
Thank you. She was very fun to work on. I drew sooooo many mermaid growing up, they were always a favourite.
DeleteGet your sketch pad out, I'd love to see whatever you post! Besides, it is so lovely to fall back into the rhythm of drawing.
beautiful drawing, love it, i wish i could draw, it just isnt one of my talents. So so lovely.
ReplyDeleteIt really wasn't one of mine when I started either. It is most definitely a learned skill!
DeleteI did determine to learn when I was reasonably young, however I have seen many people take it up much later in life (like well into retirement) and enjoy themselves and have good results and progress.
One woman in particular was in a life drawing class with me, and she would come and look at my work, and I would look at hers, and we would chat (at 18 I was the youngest in the class, in her mid 70's she was the oldest).
It brought her joy, and that was of as much worth as any of the images she produced. xx
I am stunned everytime I come here to your blog. It's so different and really stands out in my mind. Your pictures are fantastic! love them.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I love making them, and am really enjoying the motivation to draw every day. It used to be such a big part of my life, so it is lovely to let it become that again.
DeleteShe is much prettier that Ariel ;)
ReplyDeleteAw, thank you. Ariel can look a littl odd depending on the angle, but I did love her anyway growing up... I never drew her though, I always drew my own mermaids. lol
